  • Come From Away is a musical written by Tony nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein and directed by Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Come From Away is based on actual events that took place on September 11, 2001, and the days that followed in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) closed its airspace, forcing 4,000 planes to land at the nearest airport. Gander, with a population of 10,000 people, had 38 planes land with 6,579 passengers and crew. The “Come From Aways” were driven to Salvation Army centers, churches, schools, and community centers and were stranded until planes were cleared between September 13 and September 16. During this time, cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust and gratitude grew into friendships. Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical!
